The owner of the eNotz™ is able to specify whether information is to be publically visible to all visitors or only to those who are provide the password for viewing it. Thus, you may create an eNotz™ that is private for your family and/or friends.
Alternatively, you as the owner may define that the information is available for veiwing by all but can e editoed and changed ONLY by those that you have provided the password to.
Further options allow the owner to define that while editing is not permitted, visitors may add to the information. Here again, as owner you may define whether the feature is available at all and whether a password is required.

A profile image may optionally be stored with your eNotz™. A thumbnail of the image will be displayed when a visitor visits your eNotz™. You may use this to share the image and additionally it will allow your visitors to confirm that they are looking at the correct eNotz™. The image is optional. If the visitor clicks on the image then a larger view is shown. For reasons of efficiency we do limit the size of the image.
If you provide us with a page, SMS-device, text-message number or eMail address then we can inform you whenever anyone updates or accesses your eNotz™. Additionally, you will have the option of allowing visitors to send you an SMS/text/pager message without even needing to disclose your SMS address to them.
This can be very useful since it allows anyone with web-access to send you an SMS message.
At this time we support all SMS/text message systems of which we are aware. It is possible that some providers will not participate with us and so we can not guarantee that we can always send SMS messages to you.
If your account permits it, we allow you to upload a number of additional images to your eNotz™. Visitors to your eNotz™ will be able to view these images. Of course if you require a password for access to your eNotz™ then the images are protected by it also. For reasons of efficiency we do impose some limits on the size of images tha are permitted.
The Secure Private Area is one of the most powerful parts of the eNotz™ system and is also one of the hardest to describe, being unlike anything else that we are aware of.
A good anlogy for the area is that of a safe deposit box, yet the area is even more secure than that in many ways.
The Secure Private Area, associated with your eNotz™, if you decide to use it, is an area that requires multiple passwords to access. First, it is available ONLY to you as the owner, by use of your owner password. Additionally any information that you place in this area is encrypted with a password that only you know. Without that password there is NO known way in which the data can be decrypted.
We use the industry standard, public domain, GPG encryption system to encrypt the information for you. While we can not prove it to you, we believe that this is sufficiently secure that we actually use it to maintain our personal credit card information. Thus, if we as the authors of eNotz™ ever lose our wallets, etc, and need to contact our credit card companies, we would go to a Cyber Cafe, connet to eNotz™, retrieve our Secure Private Area and then have all the information that we need.
It should be stressed that even we at eNotz™ are unable to access your Secure Private Area. Additionally, for your protection any transmission of information between your computer and the Secure Private Area is encrypted using https or SSL, the same techniques used to protect credit card and other information on the web.
We envisage that you would use the Secure Private Area for maintaining infromation that you may need in an emergency but need to keep secret from others, such as credit card contact information.
We envisage that you may use this for stroring information that you would need in an emergency. Unlike the Scure Private Area we do not encrypt this file for you, but since we allow you to store a file of any type, you can encrypt or otherwise protect it yourself if you wish.
If your account permits it, we allow you to upload some number of files to your eNotz™. These files will be available to any user that has access to your eNotz™, for download.
While we do not generally monitor the files that you upload here, you do agree to our terms of service which prohibit copyrighted information and certain other inapropriate content.
In order to maximize the efficiency of the system we do limit the size of images that you may upload to our server and will re-size them if necessary. Depending on your account type we will re-size them such that the maximum number of pixels in either the height or width is the number defined in the summary above. It is also possible that we will perform some other, limited optimization to make the storage more efficient, it is unlikely that you would ever notice this latter optimization.
We do limit the size of files that you may upload to our servers to maintain efficiency. The size limit is defined by your account type, as shown above. The limit applies to file in your Private Area or public area if permitted.
We make no limit to the number of times that you may download your own Private File Area, Secure Private Area, text message eNotz™, etc. We do however limit the number of transfers that may be made by visitors to your site who access images and files that you have uploaded. The limits that we impose are unlikely to be noticed by you or anyone else and are relatively generous.
If you provide us an email address where you currently receive eMail we can assign you an eMail address of the form yourname@eNotz.com. Any eMail addresses to this latter address will be forwarded to your other address, transparently. This allows you to: 1) have a life time eMail address here and 2) have an address which is relatively anonymous. Thus, even if you change ISP and are assigned a new address, it will not matter, your eNotz™ address will continue to work, you will merely set it to forward to your new address.
If you use our system to forward eMail addressed to you and you register a pager or SMS device with us, we can send a text/pager message to you whenever we receive mail for you.
On the more advanced accounts we will provide you with a lifetime POP3 mailbox. Using this box you can send and receive mail directly using the eNotz™ system. You may use your existing eMail client such as Eudora, Outlook, etc., or our web based mail interface. Using our POP3 box means that you need no account anywhere else.
If you provide us a valid SMS/text address we can even offer visitors to your eNotz™ the ability to send you an SMS/text message directly from the web site. The sender does not need an SMS device and you do not even need to provide them with your text/SMS number.
If you enable the 'Mailing List' feature of your account we allow you to maintain a list of addresses and optionally even allow visitors to subscribe to your mailing list themselves. You can then send messages to all the members of your list using the system. We do limit the number of members that can be included in a mailing list, according to the type of account you have.
The mailing list feature allows you to send whatever message you wish when you wish. We do limit the number of times per month that you can use the feature to send a mailing, depending on the type of account you select.
If you subscribe to a plane that includes a web site we provide you space on our servers and address such as: http://www.eNotz.com/members/yourname We provide a simple interface by which you can upload files to your website. The space that we provide is limited, depending on the subscription class that you chose.
We do not provide authoring tools, technical help is creating your site etc. The area that we provide is for a simple 'one directory' web site which can contain a few pages, images, files etc.
If your account type is such that we allow a web site you may also merely set the system to link to a web site that you have stored elsewhere.
The external linkage is provided for those who want to use the eNotz™ system as part of their more advanced web site. With this feature you can link directly into either your main eNotz™ or your calendar. Thus for example you could have a link on your web site that is entitle 'calendar' that would cause your eNotz™ calendar to show when pressed. When the user is done with the calendar they will return to your site. The home link on the eNotz™ pages is also modified so that it causes a return to the page on your site that you specify.
If your account type allows it, you can change the colors and appearance of your eNotz™ to meet your personal preferences or color scheme that you use elsewhere.
Additionally, you are permitted to use HTML in your main eNotz™. This can make a much more attractive site, look at www.eNotz.com/MagicJohn for an example of this.
If your account type allows it, we can set you a domain name of the form yourName.enotz.com and/or YourDomainName.com.
An alias is an alternate name/entry for your eNotz™. For example, Magic.John is an alias for MagicJohn. This means that visitors can find the site using either identity.
Optionally you may associate a calendar with your eNotz™. This allows you to simply set appointments etc.
If you have an validateded eMail address you may set the system such that eMail to yourName@eNotz.com is forwarded to you, or if you have a pop3 mailbox at eNotz™, then you have the option to send eMail that will be from your name at eNotz.com and in which we will hide the ip address and other identifying information pertaining to you. Please note that use of this for inappropriate reasons is a breach of our terms of service.
An eNotz™ that has not been accessed in any way, including viewing it, for a preiod of 60 days is elligible to expire and be removed from our system, if the account is a free one. Paid accounts do not expire while in good standing.
